Today I go to do the weightroom and there is some college student using the platform with the bumper plates to do....CURLS!!!  With like 75lbs.  There are 2 complete sets of fixed barbells up to 130, 4 count them 4 nice power racks with 600-800 lbs of plates each but this bonehead uses the OL platform.  I was actually thinking of rearanging my workout ( I didn't need it until the end) so I could go over there and tell him to get off the platform but I figure that would make me almost as bad.  He finished up by the time I got over there.

Anyone that has met me knows this is not my normal attitude, but this just annoyed the sh...well, let's just say it upset me greatly.  Ugh!!!  Sorry, I'm sure the valium will kick in soon.

I see it all the time. Just last night I watched some kid do shrugs in the power rack with a 25 pound plate on each side, yes, just one plate on each side.

I've also seen the curl guys doing exactly what you described as they watch themself in the mirror.

I try to be polite and leave people alone, but I love to go set up next to these kids and just embarrass them, and then walk away.

The proper term for this type of person (coined, I think, by Eric Burkhardt, then at UC Irvine, now at Long Beach State) is "gym mullet".

Since I now have a home training hall *, I rarely have this sort of problem.

-Wayne

* This conversion from a commercial gym membership was prompted when my local gym was closed by the sheriff.  It seems that the gym operator had NEVER paid rent to the owner, and I must have been a member for at least 5 years before it closed.  The female gym operator was a personal friend of the building owner, who landed in the hospital for an extended stay.  Out of concern for the business, his family looked into the books...

My personal favorite was the pinhead who was using wrist straps to BENCH PRESS. I actually laughed out loud.

last year before I got hurt..finished squatting and felt a bit springy when I went to the corner of the leg room to do some jumps onto the plyo table...when I looked there was 4 cups of coffee and cell phones on it-I proceded to take them and gently place them on the bench next to the wall when I was attacked by 4 women(all women being trained on bosu balls by the same trainer)..thye stated we are using that thing..I said what "thing"?they said the coffee table..I then turned and did some plyo hops..all 4 women who were cramming 20lbs of shite into spandex designed to hold 5lbs of shite stated why would I want to jump onto a table??duuh..because Kearney said "thats what all the cool kids do"

There's an upside though. How many times have you been able to work in a quick set of bent rows while spotting some pinhead on the bench?
Cheers,

at my last gym..we were asked to move the power rack & squat rack away from the cardio deck-apparently the grunting and groaning of heavy squats and deadlifts upset and distracted the people on the treadmill

I just always love the super body English that some use to curl dumbells.  It's like they heard Ahhrnald say some cheating was ok...and they proceed to swing the things from hip to shoulder.

Here you go folks...I've got a good one for you.  For some friggen reason the gym owner put the inverted leg press in front of the platform and YES you guessed it correctly...in the middle of some good snatches here comes one of the too many "personal trainers" with one of her idiots to sit their fat arse right there and then to my suprise throw the legs in the air and go right into their set!!  Lovely to see in the middle of your set...and I'm the sob when I just let the weight drop and stare at them in disbelief!!

...and that's why I love training in my unairconditioned garage in the Texas heat.  No waiting for equipment, nobody asking stupid effin questions, my choice of training music and no idiots getting in my way.

That's why I train at home in my power rack and platform in the corner of my basement.  If I trained at a commercial gym and a mullet in spandex started to tell me that pulls and squats were bad for my back again I was going to invoke "The Power of Greyskull" on them.  Thus to avoid my hometown's finest, I needed to train at home.  There are some great heavy duty gyms but unfortunately they are hard to find.

I love to train when the gym is crowded.  I love the energy.  I just go over and ask to work in.  They either have one more set and move out, or we start loading the bar for my set.  I try to make them stay and do more weight and sets, but most times they split.

These are the reasons I invested so much money into training in my dungeon. And I continue to buy more weight every year. I miss the gym sometimes but I don’t miss the guy in the corner looking at himself in the mirror and his legs are the size of 12 year old because he never works legs, but some how finds time to do curls everyday on the power rack.

I think Zolk was born with those calves.  They have since turned into full blown cows.

He-Man is really Conan, so he "may have dabbled" in the struce if based on Arnold .  From Wikipedia...

Originally, the He-Man action figures were designed as a toyline for the Conan The Barbarian movie. However, due to the sex and violence of the film, the idea of marketting a toyline for children based on such an adult film was scrapped.[citation needed]

The toys that had already been put into production were changed and combined with the ideas of Ray Wagner.[citation needed]

In 1980, Ray Wagner, Mattel President US, requested that Mattel's preliminary designers come up with a proprietary male action line for the company. The reason for doing so was that Mattel would not have to pay royalties to an outside source.

Thanks for the props on the only part of my body that keeps my lean mass index up as high as it is.

How about a guy who wraps his elbows to max out a 1/2 rep on the hammer strength bench press. He takes more time to get ready than he does actually lifting!
