Try suitcase deadlifts - put a BIG dumbell just outside one foot - reach down and grab that baby w/ one hand and stand up ...make sure you go all the way from floor on every rep.....switch sides and repeat 'till done. UT has dbells up to 200lbs- got a set of 3 w/ those monsters. My sides/upper back are KILLING me. Enjoy.....hehehehe...

You can also do those with a bar if you don't have the big DBs.  This also adds the awkwardness factor.

I like those too.  Here Baab, try these things on page 18:

www.dieselcrew.com/articl...20hard.pdf

they will amplify the soreness!

Shoot.  Ok, try this.  The exercise that I'm talking about is on the bottom of page 18 right after your suit case deads.

Here is a good one I started doing this year....

Side snatch with the land mine.

put a couple of 45's on the end of a Sorinex land mine floor unit and let it sit on the floor behind your right leg...use the linemen handles and grab a hold,,,explode up ,over and around your head and put it down hard just behind the left leg.  making a big rainbow pattern...Wow you gotta really get some explosion to even get the thing off the floor.

I do DB snatch with the 80's. That is all that we have at my HS gym. I would go with a lighter weight for speed first then work your way up. I do them to prep for the WOB. I like the 80's because they give a decent amount of resistance, but I still feel like i can toss it through the roof.

Speed is good, I should get some!

Tree - Steve's giving ya the word- one handed snatches are for all- body speeeeed - do sets of 5 or so up and down bam,bam,bam- both hands - try to kiss the weight off the ground(keep long range of movement) and throw it thru the roof...remember hip pop(don't just bend over at waist).

It's a one-handed deadlift with the weight on one side of your body, rather than in front of you.

That seems pretty reasonable to me. I singled 365 with a hook grip a few years back and I'm no Mike Smith. Incidentally, the reason Mike likes the suitcase deads so much is because that way he can hold his sandwich in the other hand.

Cheers,

Carlos

If you really wanna get sore. Try this

60% 1RM x8 reps

70%x6

80%x4

90%x2

80% x 3 sets of 6

Do that for 2 or 3 different exercises and you won't walk properly the next day. Hallelujah for hypertrophy

Ive tried setting a dumbell just outside right foot and pick it up, twist and set it down just outside of left foot, grab it with left hand, back and forth, switching hands. Great core work. Just used 100# for a long nasty set. Very sore the next day.. or two.

Hmm, that's interesting.  I could also see doing the opposite exercise, pulling it from the left side with the right hand and vice versa.
