Got a ham pull on the right side in the groin area on 7-26-11. I've been training through it since then in hopes of getting some much needed strength back. I switched to front squats for the last two months and have had only a slight pinch when above 90%. Front squats are fine, but back squats have been my favorite since I was 12 (I'm bout 37 now). Back squats also show a better carryover for me in the OH shot, most throws and my deadlift. So, in short, I NEED them. Been trying to add the back squats in the last month and the pain returns when doing any form of back squat (Box, high bar, gm squat, lunges too). Anyone have any luck with rehabing this area without long term rest? I have a bit of a history with this minor injury. I got my first lingering pull in this area in HS football and threw through the same thing throughout my HG season in 2005. I usually wrap the area when I train and ice when done. I have 3 children already, but putting e-stim just under my right test is not what I prefer to do. Sorry so long, Any help is much appreciated. |

Pain this far out is probably from adhesions (scar tissue
that connects things that aren't supposed to be connected). Foam rolling, trigger point therapy, deep tissue massage, baseball bat, .... |

^ yup.
I'd have someone do ART, and I'd also be doing a ton of SMR with a roller (pvc for hammies imo) and a lacrosse ball. |

I pulled my hamstring my senior year of college. Being the anti-
training room person I was, the only thing that saved me was the REALLY hot student trainer they assigned to me. I was in there everyday, on time. This probably won't help you, but just letting you know what worked for me. :-) |

Thanks much. I go to see the PT tomorrow to start. It looks like I will be aggressive with the rehab suggestions above and less with the back squats for a bit. I will slide the emphasis to the push press and hang clean/snatch for a while. I will push more conditioning and slowly work back into heavier loads around first of year hopefully.

If you get those adhesions cleared up, you'll be back at it
very quickly. |

+1 x 1000... 1 week out from mid september games, right leg high ham/groin pull. Went to ART guy next day, 95% the following weekend. 100% in 2 weeks. No residual at all now. Have some longer term issues on my left. Good thigh sleeve allows me to train/throw 100%. SMR helps relieve tightness. |
