i don't think i am using any form here other than using all back. This is my standard throw this far. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPtiOE_ElG0&NR=1
I have been noticing some trouble with my long arms dragging the weight on the ground. I am 6' and my arm span is 79" or that of someone that is 6'7" . My college football buds would joke and call me knuckles. Any Advice is good advice! |

Check out this prev thread. If you can, try to obtain / make a smaller weight so you can get your legs closer together. Need to use your legs to drive the weight up and the left hand planted on the left thigh to help stabilize and push off with. |

I love it when people use the search button.
And that weight is like the circus dumbbell of 56lb weights, awesome. |

Also, it is perfectly within the rules to bend your knees in that event.

See i thought something was a little off lol this is what the absense of form would look like My frankin-56 was a valid 1st attempt at making a weight but not very esetic to say the least. I made a new one using some 1" standard plates which is much nicer to look at, haveyet to throw it yet. I find this event to be the one i struggle with the most because of my build. Short frame of 6' w/ arms that measure to that of a 6'7" tip to tip |

I see two things you could work on. the first, hold the impliment with the back of your hand facing foward, not to your side. the second, maybe extend your arm longer and release higher, more explosion. |

Actually, I think he'd benefit more, for the time being, by
trying not to use his arm at all. This will force him to get more out of knee/hip/back extension. |

I am throwing all day tomorrow so i will def try to focus on this...Jus sit back as low as i can without the weight hitting the ground, and when the weight drops jump as much as i can for the most part i have been focusing on my arm and not hitting the ground..i had read some people have found success doing two swings to the side only and no between the legs for a fuller range of motion...balance would be a draw back to that approach i would assume |

That's really a completely different throw, and I wouldn't
try it until you've mastered the standard throw. |

no what i was refering to was standing under the bar...instead of swing the weight in between the legs..only swing it to the outside of my body and release

As I said, that's a completely different throw (and would
be disallowed at some games). |
