Well, I didn't try to drill them, and the epoxy that I tried glue'ing some steel brackets down to the stone with, failed after about 60 seconds. So I used chains.

Total weight of the stones is about 310  The little one (on the left) is about 145, the big one is about 165. Add in the chain, shackles and so on and I'd guess this is about 320 or so.

Those things were "fun" to walk with.
Standing tall @5'8" I scraped the heck out of the sides of calves.

NEXT YEAR...

I think....

We're going to have an event within the event. I'm going to talk to NAHA about this.

"Strong Man of the Tartan"

Where we'll do the Farmers Walk with those guys....Overhead Press a series of 3 natural stones for time....and maybe a  sled pull or something.

We'll do this in conjunction with the 6 highland events, so that any young bucks that want to  kill themselves and do all 9 events can do it, or the NAHA guys can do three Highland events and the Strong Man events for their own trophies.

After a truly dismal turnout of only about 700 people last year, this year the gate was over 1700.  Add in the freebie tickets we gave to two radio stations and a couple of newspapers, and that was more like 1800 spectators. There were probably about 250 people in the clan booths, athletics, vendors, Guilds, bands, dancers and the Honorary Pipe Band so the day was busy.  YAY.  It's still a small Games, but it's great for families, because it's not so big that it wears out little kids.  It's just enough for mom and dad to hang out during the afternoon, have a beer,  listen to tha bands,  gawk at the athletes, and it's only $8 to get in, so it doesn't bust the family funds to come out for the day.

The setting is in a regional park that is a working farm, so you can take the kids over to see the horses and the new lambs.  They sell the Parks organic produce, so people can pick up whatevers' in season while they're there.   The Club puts together a really fun Childrens Glen with face painting and crafts and kiddie athletics with nerf implements.
