I finaly found an older fork with nice thin tines, got to Anderson this past weekend and ended up breaking the middle tine, still have a little over half of the tine left. My questions is, do all the tines half to be the same lenght? I was told that I cannot use a two tine fork here in the south east. If I sharpen the middle tine will the fork still be counted as a three tine?

Why don't you just do it? All they can do is say "No!" The rules that l have read that require three tines do not specify that the ALL of the tines be the same length. That three tined fork rule makes no sense anyway. l'd much rather that our sheaves be pierced by two tines instead of three any day!

Why not just fix the thing and have no worries and don't cause a problem? With three tines you have more surface area to transfer the energy from the fork into the bag for movement. So that is the reason to use a 3 tine over a two IMO. Obviously the middle tine was working or at least trying to work so hard it broke.

Not it broke because I didn't listen tothe people who knew what they wre talking about, I tried to bend the tines so the bag would not fall off on my back swing. Can you weld them to where it will not break at the welded jont? Not alot of metal to work with.

I just recieved six 3 tine blades, I was straightening one out and snappped
about four inches off. I sand blasted it, had a buddy tig weld it and then heated it to molton red and hammered it at the welded joint, then sanded it down. it looks great but if I put it on a handle I couldn't sell it to anyone. But the joint is strong. Three tines is three tines I wouldn't worry about it. I agree with Myles 3 is better than to. Wally it just means you need to spend a little more coin on Bag's. |
