A friend of mine snapped this picture last saturday & it got me thinking. Am I losing height cuz I'm releasing to early? I'm trying to focus on driving it with my hip & legs, but maybe I'm losing sight of the overal picture? Please help http://i1019.photobucket.com/albums/af313/wob75/JoelWob.jpg

NASGAweb ate my first response so here's a much shorter version. http://i615.photobucket.com/albums/tt235/Detroitpete/MWCWOB. jpg The thrower is "DetroitPete" last Saturday at the Masters Worlds in Denver, not me. This is kind of an old argument: Radius vs Shrug in the WOB. If shrug, release early; if you radius toss, follow the weight up. Recognizing my prejudices, I didn't say "if you shrug, switch to radius". Main things are, get your hip driving into the throw and get the triple extension going. |

I forgot about the radius style, perhaps blocked it from memory is more appropriate. Now I remember thinking my spine was going to be pulled out of my shoulder socket OTOH I'm alot stronger now than I've ever been, maybe I could handle the strain? How do the Legends of Standing Lore throw it? Is it less snatch and more swing? |

Hadley FTW Ok the differences I'm seeing, besides the obv strength level, are that his navel/chest is pointing up and his arm is straight. So he is still driving with his hips but by leaning back he creates more verticall energy w/ the same force. Also by leaning back and keeping his arm straight more of that energy is transferred to the implement.
Different subject; It was the picture of Hadley throwing the hammer on Ironmind a while back that set off a light bulb about how to properly use hammer blades. |

That was the first annual Lindon City Days - Timothy Radmall of Legacy Scots puts on an awesome game. Venue was awesome, lots of shade & the crowd/kids really got into the comp. |
