Hi guys, I've got Paeroa in a few days and I'd just like some tips for the LWD.

I've got a vid of me throwing here...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7IPqhahZsNw

I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing apart from doing a hop, a turn and yelling. Up to myself I'd look at getting a bit lower to the ground starting at the back of the box with my right leg going into more of a half squat. Then the first cast would be a bit flatter with a less pronounced 'jump'. I look like I'm doing Elephant ballet at the back, rather than gliding through the box low to the ground.

Thoughts?

Throw above there was 72' and elation was more because I had fouled the earlier 2 better throws out the left of the trig. I'd like to hit 75-77'+ next outing.

Seems like your right leg is lifting abit too much and your left is jumping out at the start and creating the up and down. There is sprinting or lifting effect that all throwers try and create as they feel they will generate more speed (which is why a sprinter lifts and extends to generate speed). So maybe consider pushing out of the back, keeping the left side activated so it can react and touch with tension and push again, and keeping that right side flexion at minimum. SO DRIVE YOUR LEGS across the box, SAVE THE LIFT FOR THE END!!!

The big however, the event is about accleration, angle of release all that. If you feel fluid, balanced and are able accelerate through the sequence of mechanically don't go making big changes. Good Luck and 77'

I MAY BE BIG , BUT I'M FAST

I thought he was slightly behind the weight at the trig, so the pull was a little short.

Hey guys, sorry for taking a while.

Long story short, I only threw an even 70'. I struggled to get speed with the lower start, and really should have done a training session beforehand. The good thing though, in Pat's absence, I manage to win Paeroa. Success.
