Hi all... Is there a standard for Judges training? I hold judges training, but it did not seem to matter to some of my judges. They get how to measure a throw but I do not think that they understand fouls like they should, and scoring.

Our Pro-Judge was Hapy Mayer, so no problems there but I wish I could have provided better information, and training materials to the other judges.

I am considering recruiting, and paying injured athletes to be judges, but I would like to think that all of the athletes are healthy and not available.

How do you all do it?

I was going to mention retired athletes being judges, but it would have led to me saying something like... "it wasnt the same without you..." and you would have to remind me you are retired...

So... how about next year Wayne? You want to be a judge?

I started certifying judges for the SAAA back in the 90's, as far as I know I was the first to do that. Greg Bradshaw did a variation on my test for the RMSA based on his rules. I've rewritten the test for the SHA again based on our rules (Carlos Borges). What I do is have a clinic where I go over the rules and answer questions, that's followed by the test. You have to acheive a certain level on the test and then for a least a couple of games work along side an experienced judge.

If you're interested, I have the test in my computer but it does pertain to the SHA/SAAA ruleset
