Started increasing my throwing days about three weeks ago and backed off on the lifting. Really hitting the 56 and 42 WFD. Right knee has become extremely sore over the last two weeks. Pain is mostly on the inside and works its way around to the front side. Took 5 days off from everything and started taking viox everyday. Pain has lessened but is still there. Have started wrapping the knee when i throw and icing afterwards. I thought I would squat friday and try to lightly work out the knee. The worst pain is if I am laying down with the leg relaxed and one of the kids bumps or grabs my foot. Any one have some input on this? Thanks. Beaux

Beaux - I've had 5 knees - you need to go see a Doctor- sounds like a meniscus tear - easy to fix- DON'T SQUAT 'till you see a professional sports joint man. Good luck.

Beaux, I absolutely agree with Mike. I spent the 2003 season off after having major knee surgery, because I ignored the pain the season before. Make a trip to your doctor the NUMBER 1 priority! Keep us updated brother!---Al

Beaux, Don't ignore the pain, go see the Doc like Mike and Al suggested. I have had knee problems that started back when I was playing hockey, lacrosse and after spending 7 years in the infantry. Needless to say they didn't get much better when I started throwing. A few things that have helped myself as a preventative measure, after my kness finally healed up. I wear a jumpers band (small band that sits just below the knee cap) on my right knee and neoprene braces on both knees just to keep the knees warm and the joints happy. Started this practice this year and had much decreased knee soreness after throwing and no knee injuries throughout the year. That was 14 competitons and practicing two to three times a week, all in a four month period. Hope this helps. Jim Garrick Alberta Scottish Athletic Association |

Thanks all, I will see a Doc next week. I have found that wrapping the knee with two powerlifting knee wraps in an X pattern allows me to throw with no pain. But playing with the kids is what is hurting the knee most. Again thanks for the advice. Beaux |
