I was wondering how everybody sequenced their events when practicing multiple events in the same training session. Do you always throw in traditional order or do you mix them up? If you always compete in traditional order I can see where that would make sense, but I've competed at games with multiple flights so mixing them up in practice makes sense to me.

I usually only practice 2-3 events per session. The only one I always try to do last is the WOB.

i usually dont have a set sequence for practice either, but I like to usually throw sheaf and wob together, for the obvious reason of setting up the standards. I like to throw hammers when ever I feel a little tight or sore, because it seems to loosen me up, so on those days, hammers are first on the agenda. Other than that, I usually like to end any practice with caber, just to give me that extra tired feeling.

Yeah I practice with Northsider so I'm at the mercy of his jumbled selection process... which often leaves out the heavy WFD for some reason. But finishing up with the caber is always a good time.

As a master, we never seem to get the same order of events. This summer, I've fallen into this pattern. Every weeked, there's a group of us that get together and throw like a meet, warm up, three throws and on to the next event, trying to work like in contest conditions and we jumble the order every weekend. The, during the week, I'll hit one to three, usually two, more throwing sessions and I'll throw Sheaf, then open stone, then hammers. Doing the sheaf first allows me to warm up in a twisting motions and seems to set me up for the hammers. Then the other day I'll go weight over bar standing then spinning and WFD and Braemar. Spinning WOB seems to set me up well for WFD. I'm been trying to get away from training one event for 40 throws and focus on getting to my peak faster. |

Jonathon (Tree K1ll3r) and we usually do the traditional order: Braemar, open, HWD, LWD, H hammer, L hammer, caber, sheaf, WOB. Or we at least used to all the time. We've been slacking on the sheaf and WOB lately. We usually do 4-6 throws for each event. I guess we just like to be out at the field for hours because we're either addicted, have nothing better to do, and/or like the abuse to our bodies. |
