Bare hands/ Tape/ Gloves

Last year, I decided to throw without a glove, and for most of the season,
my hand held up pretty well until the end of the season when I ripped the
skin off my index and ring fingers. Starting to train again this year, and I
have already ripped two dime-size chunks of skin off my hand and
another off my ring finger again.

Any suggestions on how to prevent this type of injury? It always happens
when I throw the 28lb weight, I went back to a glove for a bit, but it didnt
seem to help.

Don't want to make any more ADs nervous as I bleed all over the
implements - and believe me tacky stings on raw flesh!

I don't use a glove either and found that if I keep my calluses smooth they won't rip off.  Get a good pedicure stone file like this

and scrub the calluses on your throwing hand. 

Damon is SPOT-ON!  Get rid of those callouses BEFORE they rip off.  Doesn't take much, I keep a stone in the shower and while the skin is soft, just spend a minute or two on each hand "sanding" off the callouses.  Tore my hand open 2-3 times last year and 0 this year.

I also agree with Damon. Last season I tore at least one finger every time I threw. Now I only bleed during Games.

Also, take a moment and feel your grip. If you are like me you squeeze the ring a little harder with your ring finger. This is in part due to the curve of the ring. Try to apply equal pressure with each finger.

I had the same problem, tore my hand open pretty good twice last year.  I decided that the combination of callouses and sweat softening the skin allowed it to tear.

Now I just wear a glove.  I got some of the thinner shooting type gloves since they don't bunch up like the thicker work gloves.  Look around somewhere they sell hunting stuff.

Like they said keeping the callouses down, and moisturizing seemed to help a lot.  Trying to keep it dry (chalk) should help too.

 

We're not even allowed gloves down under. Chalk and a bit of tape if needed.

I just can't seem to find any gloves with a color scheme or stripey cute pattern that I like...they all just make me look fat...

It might be how he is trying to wear the glove.  It is leather and well, no more needs to be said.  He might stick with the chalk.
