I need to do some RDLs for hamstring reasons. Should I do them instead of my regular dead lifts, in addition to my regular dead lifts, or as warm ups to my heavier dead lifts?
My guess is 'instead of', but I wanted to check the prevailing experience. Gratitude, Tom |

I did them both on separate days during the week, you just have to be mindful of your nervous system recovery. If you aren't doing the RDL's at max weights then they are a great warm up.

I'm with Joel on this. They were "addition to" on a separate day. But I wasn't maxing out with them.
I preferred volume and snatch grip, in truth. That was way more hamstring involvement for me. |

I'm a few weeks in on these, and I can say that they have definitely taught me to push my hips through better on the upper part of the lift. I'm taking for granted that the hamstring benefit is there as well. Overall, they've been a great addition.

I do RDLs as assistance work after my heavy deadlifts session where glutes and hams are already fried so i can really isolate hamstrings
