How much deviation from the event weight can an implement be?  Is it a solid value, like +/- .5 lb., or does it scale as the weight increases?

Implement weights must be at least XXX. I am not sure if there is an upper limit to the weight variance.

Dennis,

It is a minimum weight... Upper weight limits are enforced by those who throw it and all the grieve they will give you.

The person who makes weights for the Cedar Rapids games is a master wielder and was selling them for $2 per pound. I believe he said he would wield your initials into them. They are sweet weights for WOB.

LOL.  I never considered the free market approach to regulating max weight.

What Weasel is really trying to say is that is looking for a big, deviant implement.

Scratchy FYI, the rules state that the over all implement will weigh NO LESS THEN, X lbs.

Most implements run 0.05 lbs to 0.3 lbs over so that as you use them and they start to ware, dent and chip they will still make weight.

Yes you can use a 57 lb or 29 lb weight for a competition, and it will be legal, but the boys will wine if they find out. It would also reduce the chance that any record would be broken at that competition using heaver weights.

Well, I doubt any event I hold in the near future will be the kind where we'll be shooting for records.

I'd have made ya proud, Sarge.  Scrathed 4 times at Shamrock, twice in hammer.

We were kicking around the idea of holding a picnic-style open, similar to what Sarge & Clan Young put on at the end of June last year.  Time it for a weekend when there aren't any games we feel too lazy to travel for.  Get together and throw, eat, drink.  Nice and relaxed.

The upside is that one of the park shelters I'm looking at has a nice sized fireplace, so Oct./ early Nov might not be out of the question if we're jonesin' hard enough.
