Hello all.  I have to say I like this new forum.  Pretty cool.

Anyway, I heard a few of you are still looking for places to stay in Estes.  The only place that I know of at this point is the YMCA of the Rockies.  It is a pretty good place to stay and the rooms are clean.

To Update athletes on the throwing field as of 8/28/04:

Masters, under 190 and B classes are full.  These classes throw Sunday.

Men's Open has 5 slots, Womens Open has 4 slots, C class has 2 slots. These classes throw on Saturday.

I will update this post as I get new information.

For those of you traveling huge distances to get here, please be safe and smart.  Again if anyone is coming that hasn't sent in an app, please get a hold of me.  Being that some class are full this could cause chaos, and that isn't any fun.

See you in September

Shell

It looks as if the C class will be full so that leaves the

Women with 4 spaces and the Men's Open is looking like 3 spaces with some creative flight planning.

If things stay the way they are, I may be able to throw at my own games. MAYBE...Wink

As far as places to stay, I have had a couple of people get in at the Holiday Inn which is 2 blocks from the field (Rocky Mountain blocks, but...) The 14 day weather outlook predicts highs in the low 60's all weekend and low's in the mid 30's.  Pack warm.

I will post more info as in becomes available.  Thanks for all the great emails too.  I am glad you guys are so excited to come to the highest games in North American to throw heavy things...Big smile

Shell, how high is Estes Park? I know there was a short-lived games in Mammoth at about 9,000 feet. Never competed there, but I would have been sucking wind hard. Just made me wonder where the highest games were ever held. Uh, you are talking about elevation - right?

Elevation at the field is 7537feet give or take 5 or 10 feet at either end. (Estes is not know for being level...)

There are some games in Keystone that may be higher, but as far as I know, this is the highest games this year.  I could be wrong, it has happened before.

And there are a lot of people that come in from sea level that get here a couple days ahead of time to try and combat the "sucking wind" obstacle.

I now have 1 open slot to fill in the Master class.  A registered competitor had family matters that conflicted with the games.

Thanks

All available spaces will be filled as a Walk-on.  If you need more info email me.

Thanks!
