Hello all, I am looking to get a good brace for my elbow and wondering what everyone experience's have been like. I have recently started feeling some medial epicondylitis or golfers elbow pain in my right arm. I have a good plan for rehabbing it but the part that I am missing is the brace. Due to my being a carpenter there are not many ways for me to rest it at work so I am looking for a comfortable brace that I can wear for long periods (8hrs+). I have tried the elbow strap and don't feel any relief from wearing it and recently I tried putting an old knee sleeve with three straps on and it felt better.
I have looked online and see that there is everything from cheap brands on Amazon or there are two ones that I liked from Rehband, one is an adjustable sleeve that states it is for tennis/golfers elbow specifically and the other is the Power Elbow support. Does anyone have experience with these or other braces and can give me a quick heads up on your experience with them. Specifically for comfortability for long periods and range of motion while wearing it. Thanks in advance |

I use a Mueller sleeve. Cheap and effective. It has worked for everything from golfers' elbow to strained bicep insertion tendons. YMMV, but for the price, it would be worth trying.

Are you doing the ol' rubber-band finger spreader move? I rotate that into the arsenal as soon as I start feeling the forearm tendonitis creep in. Seems to help me.

Hi Ray, can't speak for the brace rec as I am at a computer all day and not actively using my hands as you do but I am getting through the same issue myself and feel I am working my way out of it. Have yet to try flossing but really need to. I've been doing a lot of self forearm massage and introduced the iron mind expand hand bands (the spreader move mentioned). Feels to have really worked. Also concentrating on wall and table stretches.

Hey Guys thanks for all the input, I really appreciate it. As I said I have a good rehab plan which includes voodoo flossing, rolling with pipe and lacrosse balls, stretching and high rep movement and it is responding great to all the above.
Based on a good recommendation from a friend I have ordered the Metal Forearm Wrap from the Eltefts site and am looking forward to trying it out. In the meantime I have gone back to wearing the cheap neoprene forearm strap that I got from a drug store. At first I did not feel it was giving me any benefit because I still feel the pain the same when lifting or moving at work but it seems to do something because at the end of the day it feels better. Again thanks for the feedback and hope you all start to heal up. |
