I have had the same issue. It's obviously writing the post to the DB, it seems that it's not recognizing the operation is complete.

Yeah I have a feeling this might be due to it being an Access database and is now up to 31MB in size. I may have to look at moving it to an SQL database, which means I have to find another host, which will take me a while. Either that or I'll have to dump some of the older posts on here. |

Kurt,
Let me know if you need help with the SQL hosting. I don't mind helping out there. |

You could just segment it by date and break it out into separate .mdb files. Also, have you compacted the database recently? Access is bad about leaving a lot of trash in the file which typically slows updates and inserts a great deal once it accumulates. I've been looking at using SQL Express for some things recently. It's M'softs replacement for MSDE, and is file based similar to Access. It's limited to I believe 2GB per .mdf, but shares many features with SQL 2005. You can have essentially all the same structures; stored procedures, UDF's, Views etc... that you would have in the full blown version of SQL without the cost. And there's no throttling on bandwidth like with MSDE. |

Actually it's a 4GB limit on the file size with SQL Express. And it's free.

I don't know if people are aware of this allready, but I think there is s problem with people trying to register for the forum and not recieving their confirmation emails. I know a handful of people who keep trying to register and resend their activation emails and they never get one. |

Yeah that happened to me. I registered and didn't get an e-mail so I figured that it was a bad connection or whatever and made another one; now there are three of me. I just got on here about a month later and it accepted my login without ever getting an e-mail.

There is an error message when they register or just no activation e-mail?

Yes, that's the problem. My father, for example, tried registering under Ed Schultz sometime during the summer and has tried many times to have his activation email resent, but, even though it always says that it has been sent, he has never recieved one, and he is not able to use the account since it is not activated. A few days ago he tried to register again with the name Papa Smurf under a different email address, but the same thing has happened.

Same thing happened to me when I tried to change my password. Locked me out and it won't send me an email. I had to start a new one and then keep bugging Kurt till he got me one working. I had to get my fix!!!!! Terry Lawson (aka BigdogEMT) |
