Off Season starting- just out of curiosity how many big guys (250+) can still
get up and dunk a basketball (10ft rim, regulation ball)?
(I know I could do it last year at 275)

Thinking Betz, Zolk, maybe Mckim, Gustin, a few others??

Not sure about currently.

Age killed my dunk long before my weight did.

At age 63 and 225lbs I can only barely touch the rim.  On a good day. Sometimes.

The jump wouldnt be bad, however the landing would be horrific!!  Go lift something Shawn...

I know two things for certain...

1. Dickens has the worst vertical leap in the history of mankind.

2. Gene, I agree, the landing is awful.

A long time ago...and too many pounds I could grab rim and have
won plenty of money from NBA players while I was coaching with the
Spurs!! I use to use a couple players to bait guys from the other
team??

I agree with Gene....its not the jump its the damn landing is horrible!!

Could do that when I was training for soccer.  About 5'6" and lucky if I was 150.

I "got the height" but I cant hold onto a ball with one hand and
holding on with two hands is awkward. I can get my hand about 3"
past the wrist above the rim.

As I was a Dutch National youth player I could easily do a 360 or more Wink that was ages (or even century's) ago....

As now my cartilage is gone, I do not even try it ! As Gene said, the landing will be horrible...

Double hand slam 16lb indoor shot from under the rim, no run up. Not as hard as you would think. 6'4" 265lbs at the time.

I tried earlier this year when I was 285 and was just short of a dunk but could grab the rim easily.

I haven't tried since but when I do I'll video it and put it up....my arm has to heal first :(

Still can, two hands, left, right, but then again, I'm 6'9", but I go 350.

And yes, agree with all the others that talk about the landing being hell.  Now with no cartilage in left knee and a shiny metal right hip, things have changed.  Played D-1 and D-2 basketball at 315 lbs.  Long gone are the days of playing pickup games, can't walk for two days after.

Yeah I can still do it once in a while from a standing postion. Don't ask me to run a leap those days are over. Oh yeah I was a high jumper in high school but old age has made me a heavy thrower...

6'5", 265 lbs.

I'm only about 220-225, but I still go out & try to dunk
every year on my birthday just to see if I still can.

Turned 39 back in March, here's a vid of me missing about
30 times & then squeaking a cpl in

39 year old
can still dunk
