Try the backswing so high that your shoulder is buried into your chin.

I would add the Technique of pausing on your back swing to let the bag fall on its own so you are not fighting its momentum.

1). Throw it higher.

2). Don't let the school know what you're doing in there.

Dont take so many swings before hand, maybe 1 or 2

I turn my hips into the back swing.
drop the legs as the fork passes your left leg.
explode up and block the right leg.
I dont see much shrug in that vid?

Like Myles said- its a violent block, then toes, shrug...

Bill is a really good sheaf tosser, and yet is a mere mortal unlike Gene and Myles who do battle with the Gods....LOL.... Bill just makes the rest of us look like hacks when it comes to sheaf.  So watch Bills videos.  Also, Duncan made  a little sheaf instruction video, which is my "help me with sheaf" thread in this forum, somewhere. Watch it.

Three things helped me.

1. Crank it up in the last windup until your left shoulder is square on your chin. Really wind that sucker up. Just like Bill said.

2. This is not a pretty event. Save the finesse for something else. Here, rip the daylights out of the thing. Bend your knees, get in power position. Drive that bag down towards the ground about a foot in front of you and then come up up as hard as you possibly can. Legs, legs, legs. Keep the arms long.  (my big error is sucking my arms up into my body)

3. Do hang cleans in the gym. They will help all your throwing, but wow do they help sheaf.

2. Being of short stature when I bend at the knees too
much I go gopher killing and hit the ground. Will try.

3. Hanging High Pulls are a staple in the gym.

Throwing the way you are you should follow the advice of
chirolifter. Try making the movement of the bag from
backswing to release in the form of a nike checkmark. Also,
try lifting up and getting a full extension through your
toes, and power through your legs more. Great release, nice
and straight. Higher on the back is good, too.. it'll give
you more crank as you bring it through.

I throw with tommi all the time, and what he's talking about with the check mark works real well for me as well. I make a big backswing and i drive it down to right above my left foot (I hold the fork end with my left hand) and as soon as its there I pull right up, so it forms a check mark. So its big backswing, dip with the legs while you drive to left foot, and then right up as fast as you can and explode in the legs like you would a power clean or pull. This has worked for me real well. I pushed from a 26 foot sheaf to hitting the bar at 30 as a lightweight. Hope I helped.

Not necessarily. You don't need to pull straight up. Go watch Harrison Bailey III throw. When the bag releases from his tines he is turned all the way looking back at the bar. Slfarr throws in a very similar way. Unless I'm mistaken he takes 7 big strides away from the bar so it will peak right.
On the flip side there is a guy here in UT that takes about a 6" stride away from the bar and throws just as high. You ought to just take extra time to play around with it and find what's comfortable for you and then practice it... a lot...
