well...i finally got some okay video of my LW4D form. This was not a great throwing day, but i need help regardless. This is with the 28. If you think this is ugly, you don't even want to see the 56. I've been competing less than a year, so i know there are a lot more reps that need to be done to get comfortable with the movement, but any help would be good. Thanks in advance. |

Is that you Josh??? Angle and distance are not so good so can't really tell about stance and foot placement. This is what I can see - 2nd turn is no faster than the 1st and your cast / orbit is MUCH flatter on your 2nd turn. I bet if you tuck in that left arm a bit you might find your turns will be faster. If you can't get better / closer video, ask a more experienced thrower for some critique at your next game.

Josh,
I would recommend breaking it down and moving back to the single spin. Your timing is so messed up that your never getting in any good positions. When you do it though, make sure you start way back in the box, and really drive to the trig by shooting the weight forward. Do this technique until you are consistently throwing it over 45ft or so before you add the first spin back in. |

hapy thanks for trying to help on saturday. That was just a horrible day of throwing on my part. I will take the advice on the single spin on the lightweight. I have done that in the past. However, i tried single spin for the heavyweight and it just trashed my shoulder because i wasn't getting enough momentum. I don't plan on touching the HW until Goshen. During the off season, I'm planning on adjusting my homemade weight in order to start at say 35 pounds and practice, practice, practice. The plan is that as i get stronger and more comfortable with the form and weight, i will gradually increase the weight. In theory, that should work. i'm getting annoyed at doing relatively well in other events and then just getting smoked in the weight for distance events. Goshen will be my 1 year anniversary of competing in the games. So far it has been a blast. Now if I can only get my numbers up to actually compete with some of the bigger guys. |

Your head is down, pull your chin up and that will give you better balance and a better release.

Also looks like you're working on your frequent flyer miles (hopping rather than gliding).
Try "unweighting" your feet as you spin rather than leaping up into the air. Hard to explain but you want your feet to just graze the top of the grass. |

I just posted some other videos. I have 3 videos of light hammer. Can somebody check those out? The lightweight for distance videos are mostly earlier ones from the beginning of this year, so my footwork isn't THAT bad anymore. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6y-3xuq-PE&feature=playe r_embedded http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6ccFY933FU&feature=playe r_embedded http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15XFAYmVDZQ&feature=playe r_embedded |

The guys are giving you great comments. Here are some more. Bend those knees. Your right leg is straight as a board. Also think of your left arm as an airplane wing. Keep it straight out even when you start your swing and keep it there. Jason is right. Look Up! When you start your spin you are leading with your head, which is very good, just get your right arm higher. You have the build for the WFD, and with a few changes should do very well. When I first started my spins were horrible, but I watched Craig Smith's videos at www.kiltedthrower.com and saw what I was doing wrong and was able to correct it. His videos show a variety of professionals throwing. Check it out. Good luck.

i noticed that your upper body is bending over when you
land. Try to straighten that out. Its about using those legs and getting lower. As to your footwork, that will get better with time. |
