So I have this issue... My right arm is 1-inch shorter than my left. What can I do to prevent building/exhausting my right arm? Is it simply a matter of moving my left arm out 1-inch wider? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

There are a number of athletes on here with real medical expertise, but I'll start with the obvious question: why is it shorter?
I destroyed my left clavicle in a motorcycle accident back in 2005 and it shortened my left arm's reach by about an inch when all the bone fused back and the ligaments shortened. That eventually resolved over about a year. Is it something like that, or just a way-you-are-put-together kind of thing? |

Have you been fully medically assessed? X-rays, MRI, bone measurements, etc?
The human body is a remarkably balanced object and unless you had some kind of gross trauma as Tom mentioned or an actual genetic birth defect (and it WOULD be a defect), I would actually work on the assumption that you have a twist or imbalance somewhere in the trunk of your body, ie hips or shoulders.
You hear "I have one leg shorter than the other" a lot. 99/100 it's a hip issue and has zero to do with bone length.

Thanks Sean. Never been medically assessed. When I hold my arms out straight in front and bring my hands together, the right side is an inch shorter. Thanks for the advice. Made an appointment with the Doc for Friday.

well in that case, the answer is simple. Lean forward more with your right side.

Saw the doc and he said everything is normal. Talked to a physical & massage therapist. Turns out back muscles on the right side are tighter than the left. Just need to stretch more.

If you're right-handed, it makes sense that the right side muscles are tighter than left side--more use.
