OK I've been doing these a lot for 2 reasons 1)They are fun. 2) They did them on the WSM last year and I am easily influenced by things I see on TV. I wonder if they would have any carry over for stones. Any body do these, any thoughts on their usefullness? Should I stop watching WSM tapes and go back to watching Spongebob or Fan Boy and Chum Chum?

My push press has always been closely correlated to my stone throwing. Jerks, not so much....or actually not at all (for me).
I don't do any single arm ones though, so I can't comment there. As always, ymmv. (and btw, reason #1 would be enough for me to keep doing them) |

Love 'em and have been doing them for years. As I've gotten older my shoulders and wrists really hurt from bar presses...or basically anything other than a neutral grip...palms in. Db's and Kb's take the pain away and give a great workout. And think of this...whenever you're working single-arm movements you've doubled the workload the whole body sees and that's always a good thing. Erik |

OK, three of the people I respect most say they are OK, therefore they stay.
But I would reccommend Fan Boy and Chum Chum to anyone with kids. If you don't have kids, borrow some so you can watch it. |

Huge fan of the one movements, like Erik. There is a great carryover and for us master lifters, the shoulder girdle gets great stimulation without as much upper neck and rotator cuff abuse. Also, great core stimulator as well. As for the single arm inclines Myles, I haven't done those but definitely will give them a try. Thanks for the suggestion. |

I do them from time to time, and they seem to be the thing to do in a comp. Cardio wise I think they're great. I did a 168lber for 11 reps in a minute and was huffing pretty good.

I've been doing one arm push presses with a kettlebell and a staggard stance for stone throwing.IMO push pressing makes the body work as whole unit.I will see if this carrys over to the stones in my next games at the end of the month.I suspect yes with getting some minor PR's in practices lately. |
